Engaging the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals

WATERLOO, Ont. (Wednesday, Jan 23, 2019) – Dr. Suzanne Kearns, Associate Professor of Aviation at the University of Waterloo, released a call for proposals today for contributions to a new book called ‘Engaging the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals’. Academics and professionals around the world are encouraged to visit
www.ngapbook.com and contribute chapters or cases of how the industry can attract, educate, and retain professionals within aviation careers.

Kearns says “the looming shortage of aviation professionals is one of the most critical issues faced by the aviation industry – yet there is very little in the way of books and resources to understand this multi-dimensional and international challenge”. The book is intended to draw on different types of expertise by inviting authors and professionals from around the world to contribute chapters, cases, and best practices.

“By incorporating work from experts around the world, we hope to create a resource to allow our sector to learn from the lessons of the past and avoid pitfalls as we manage the personnel shortage,” says Kearns.

The call for proposals will remain open at www.ngapbook.com until March 1st, with accepted chapters due in the summer of 2019. The editors will compile the work, with an anticipated publication date of January of 2020.
